We've been telling each other the worst case scenario as a risk-mitigation method since we could gesture emphatically. So it's very human to be totally concerned to terrified that the Leafs might hire the wrong guy.
One of the hardest things to do is be the person who stands there and says, "But are you sure?" because someone in the full thrall of an anxiety drama doesn't want to hear how they might have jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Rumours or even facts that are incomplete facts,
Oh they scored!
Five minutes later: Oh, the goal was overturned!!
can make you have big emotional moments only to crash down and have the opposite later. This sells. Rumours sell. And yeah, it's a little weird that the goal review pisses people off and the other roller coaster seems to be a more popular ride.
No matter, the future arrives when it arrives. I'm guessing it will arrive on Monday, but we shall see.
This is the brief text version of yesterday's salient points from 32 Thoughts:

Here's why this is so fraught: not one of us has enough information to judge this contest. We don't know if there is a tiger out there just because of a rumour, and we don't know which potential future Leafs universe will be the one we want to live in. And we still won't for a very long time full of hot summer nights and whole days without a thought of hockey.
What's most interesting here, beyond the very reasonable salary expectations Der-Arguchintsev has, is that his agent had already approached Brad Treliving:

KHL contracts official terminate at the end of May, a change made last year from the former date of May 1. The goal appears to have been preventing prospects from joining their teams in the playoffs.
There is no rational reason to say no to SDA, so I hope the new regime does that.

Last night Laval took the opener from the Marlies in their series.
The Canadiens went up 3-2 over the Lightning, and the Penguins and Flyers took a 0-0 tie to overtime and Pittsburgh dominated for the third and most of OT and lost anyway. The Flyers move on.
The Mammoth and Vegas now have someone up 3-2 in that series.
And that's it for today. Have a happy last day of April.
